
HISTORY
The Frankfort Chamber of Commerce incorporated in January, 1967,
with approximately 54 members. Since that time, the Chamber has
grown to over 650 members, reflecting the growth of the
Frankfort area.
The Frankfort Chamber of Commerce is a volunteer organization
devoted to promoting the commercial, industrial and civic welfare of
the Frankfort area. Chamber members represent all types of business,
professional and industrial interests. The Chamber provides many
civic and business development programs.
The main fund-raising event for the Chamber of Commerce is the
Labor Day Weekend festival, Frankfort Fall Festival. This event
features craft exhibitors, a parade, a carnival, food booths, and an
Entertainment Tent.
In the early years, projects undertaken by the
Frankfort Chamber of Commerce included paving of the Municipal
Parking Lot, furnishing picnic tables for the park, contributing to
the Good-Will Shed, and donating to Frankfort News, a monthly
newsletter published by community volunteers.
In the seventies, the Chamber donated six thousand dollars for
the planting of trees in Frankfort's Historical District and to the
Heritage Hall Fund. The Chamber of Commerce was responsible for the
construction of the Village Directory. In 1979, the Chamber
contributed four thousand dollars toward the paving of the parking
lot adjacent to Heritage Hall.

Throughout the eighties and nineties, the Chamber has increased
its number of community events. The Chamber contributes to the
community by offering the summer concert series, Concerts on the
Green. Several thousands of dollars is provided for the summer
concert series. The Chamber has also
donated to the Winter on the Green event and the Annual
Fireworks Celebration. Fall Festival continues to provide community
and civic groups the funds to operate their annual budgets each
year. Each year the Chamber provides five one
thousand dollar scholarships to area college-bound students, and helps to fund the Frankfort Police Cadets special
training classes. The Chamber hosts Candidate Nights and Lincoln-Way
High School job seminar for sophomore students. The Chamber
has made
donations to Frankfort Mainstreet Alliance Program,
Frankfort
Preservation Foundation, Frankfort School District #157-C
Education
Foundation, Lincoln-Way Education Foundation and Operation Playground.
The Chamber has and will
continue to work hard to promote business and community interests
through valuable events and programs.
